The new issue of 10 Men has just arrived at the studio and inside is our brand new SS13 Campaign.

This season we got together with Seoul based artist Osang Gwon. Gwon has garnered attention in the international art world with his remarkable photo-collage sculptures. His “Deodorant Type” series (beginning 1998) consists of life-size sculptures made up of hundreds of photographs plastered on to styrofoam bodies.

“Nuages Pattern” (2012, c-print, mixed media, 220x63x50cm)

“Aztec Pattern” (2012, c-print, mixed media, 217x135x83cm)

For this project Osang Gwon created two life-size sculptures “Nuages Pattern” (2012, c-print, mixed media, 220x63x50cm) and “Aztec Pattern” (2012, c-print, mixed media, 217x135x83cm), both depicting male models clad in Wooyoungmi SS13 clothing. The spectacular “Aztec Pattern” also features a leopard figure, which is draped around the shoulders of a standing model. This is Gwon’s reference to classical sculpture and his observation of a link between the poses of today’s fashion photography and the postures of these ancient statues.

The entire process – from initial selection of the outfits, photo shoot, as well as creation of the artwork – was a collaboration between Wooyoungmi and the artist. Images of the work will run as the Wooyoungmi SS13 international advertising campaign from January 2013. The collaboration artwork, as well as other pieces by Osang Gwon, will be exhibited at ManMade Wooyoungmi Seoul from 25 February.
